STROUD NAMED
CHIEF OF POLICE
Robert Stroud, interim chief of police at East Carolina University since December, has been named the university's chief, effective May 16.
Stroud, an honors graduate of ECU, joined the university police department as assistant chief last May. Previously he was a lieutenant at the Pitt County Memorial Hospital Police Department and an officer with the Greenville department.
He is a member of the American Society for Law Enforcement Trainers, the American Society for Industrial Security, the North Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Association, the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors, and the Pitt County Law Enforcement Officers Association.
Stroud succeeds Teresa Crocker, who accepted a position with Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.
