New North Carolina Treasures on Exhibit Through May 2003
"New Finds and Special Treasures" showcases special materials and equipment
recently acquired by the North Carolina Collection at Joyner Library, with
an emphasis on eastern Carolina.
Material include:
- Office and Authority of a Justice of a Peace, 1774, by James Davis,
North Carolina's first public printer, New Bern.
- The 1895-1896 annual catalog of what is now Elizabeth City State
University.
- Early documents from Martin and Pitt Counties, part of a collection
of microfilm of early county records for 13 eastern counties, useful for
historical and genealogical research.
- Information about a new digital reader/printer that allows library
users to scan microfilm, of old newspapers or census records for instance,
and e-mail the image or save it to a disc.
The colorful, attractive display was developed by Fred Harrison of the North
