ECU MOVES UP
East Carolina University has moved up one level in the annual rankings of
colleges and universities by U.S. News & World Report. This year, ECU is listed in the third tier of national doctoral universities.
Only 249 universities nationwide those that offer the doctoral degree in a variety of
disciplines and emphasize research by their faculty members are included in the classification. ECU was ranked in that category for the first time last year and was listed
in the fourth tier. Chancellor William V. Muse said, "To move up in so short a time reflects
the progress we are making as we emerge as a true national university. The higher ranking is a
tribute to our faculty and students and provides a good indicator that we are headed in the right
direction." The other public universities in North Carolina included in the national
doctoral group are UNC-Chapel Hill, N.C. State and UNC-Greensboro. The magazines college guide issue will be available Monday (Sept. 16) at newsstands. ### |
